What does your Escapadita do?
Escapadita aims to help travelers uncover the best destinations, accommodations, restaurants, and experiences, no matter where their adventures take them.
What's your backstory?
Roberto, a finance major from Universidad de Monterrey, has a diverse background with 4 years of experience as an Inbound Marketing Consultant and 2 years as a Financial Advisor.
His expertise in marketing technology and customer service has played a vital role in shaping Escapadita into its current state. Roberto's passion for travel and his ability to connect with people make him a positive and creative problem solver.
During his entrepreneurial journey, Roberto has embarked on four projects. However, Escapadita is a unique endeavor that originated as a passion project and gradually transformed into a successful startup.
How did you come up with the idea?
During the 2020 pandemic, amidst COVID, I was stuck indoors for two weeks and wanted to explore nearby destinations for a weekend getaway. I stumbled upon options I didn't even know existed, and that's when I decided to create a social media account to help others discover these hidden gems.
How and when did you know you found a product market fit?
As the Escapadita Instagram account gained traction, it became evident that there was a solid product-market fit, as both travelers and property owners expressed a keen interest in connecting and facilitating reservations. This initial validation led to the first client, who approached us seeking to promote their property. The booking was successfully facilitated through the Escapadita platform, marking a significant milestone as Escapadita earned its first commission.
What's your motivation?
Currently, no platform provides good, curated recommendations on where to stay, what to eat, and what to do when traveling and visiting a destination.
What's next for Escapadita?
Short-term: Expand market presence across the entire Mexican market.
Medium-term: Expand to all of Latin America.
Long-term: Achieve global expansion.
Tips from Roberto for other founders:

Learn to iterate.
Communicate with your customers, especially in the early stages.
Learn about financial management.
Sales, sales, sales. Everything else can fail, but if sales fail, everything else will.
